Meet Owen, a young boy who was diagnosed at 3 months with Lissencephaly. Lissencephaly is a rare genetic brain malformation that means his brain is smooth like an egg and doesn’t have folds and grooves like most other people. As a result, Owen also suffers secondary symptoms such as Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy (CP), Cortical Vision Impairment (CVI), Global Development Delay (GDD) and Epilepsy. Due to his conditions Owen can’t ride a bicycle like most other boys his age and was missing out on all that boyhood fun as well as key development and growth of his body. Due to his conditions Owen can’t ride a bicycle like most other boys his age and was missing out on all that boyhood fun as well as key development and growth of his body. Thanks to your support of the annual Holeseekers Charity Golf Day we chipped in to buy Owen his very own first bike (aka trike). Owen is thrilled with his new bike and will also benefit greatly with leg strength and differentiation, trunk control, head control plus much more, as this is a special bike designed to assist Owen in his rehabilitation with movement coordination. He will also enjoy a fun and outdoor therapy based activity. More importantly, just like any other kid his age, Owen is riding a bicycle.
